Jo’s Story – Community, Sustainability and Volunteering with BHRR

My partner and I joined BHRR from the beginning due to a passion for recycling and concern about the volumes of reusable items going into landfill and waterways.

BHRR has become much more than about rehoming. It has become a community of friendship, with like-minded people sharing a passion for sustainability. Co-founders Jennie and Cath have created a culture of friendly and considerate interactions, and non-judgemental appreciation of what we find.
I love being a volunteer for this group. It has touched something fulfilling & satisfying in me. As a volunteer, you know that you’re contributing to something special. I especially love growing plants for BHRR’s annual market.
